COMPETITION SCHEDULE 

Competition times are estimated on schedules and programs based on routine times entered in studio registrations.  Please have dancers & their families prepared for a 30-minute leeway in their performance times.   During the event, teachers and dance families can follow our Live Schedule with "On-Stage" and "Up Next" live updates on our SDC APP.  (Note:  The Live Schedule accuracy is dependent on the quality of the wifi signals in event venues.)

LIVE STREAMING 

Your dancers may have family members or friends who can't make it to see their performance in person.  Not a problem at SDC!  We offer live streaming at all of our events!!!  Our Live Stream is available on our website.  (Note:  The Live Streaming accuracy is dependent on the quality of the wifi signals in event venues.)

NO PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEO RECORDING PERMITTED

NO PHOTOS or VIDEO RECORDING PERMITTED by audience members inside the auditorium during performances. If anyone is caught recording or taking stage photos during performances, the affiliated studio is subject to point deduction or possible disqualification. This rule is in place to protect the choreography of the teachers and the privacy of the performers.  Photography & Video recording is permitted during awards sessions.  Teachers are permitted to video THEIR OWN dancers from backstage.

ENCORE CHALLENGE DANCE-OFF 

The SDC Encore Challenge Dance-Off is an exciting opportunity for selected routines to do an encore performance for a chance to become the SDC Encore Champions!!!    There are two Dance Offs:  JUNIOR ENCORE CHALLENGE (for Petite/Junior) groups, and SENIOR ENCORE CHALLENGE (for Teen/Senior/Adult) groups.  Judges will select between 3 to 5 routines to perform in the encore challenge and not more than one routine from a particular studio.  Scores and placements are not a factor in the Judge's selections.  Routines are chosen for their "entertainment" quality and the overall energy the dancers bring to the stage. 

(In order for teachers to prepare their dancers and families so that they MAY be chosen for this prestigious competition, we will make announcements throughout the competition on the judge's top contenders.  Top contenders can be "bumped" at any time by future performances.  In order to maintain our tight schedule, we are unable to wait for late dancers for the Encore Challenge.  Pre-rehearsal is for Encore is not recommended.  Errors onstage during Encore do not affect the final outcome.  Judges are looking for the team that is most "in it to win it" energy!  Any routine late to the stage will be disqualified.)

ADJUDICATION AWARDS, JUDGE'S CHOICE AWARDS, OVERALL AWARDS

Adjudication, Judge's Choice,  and Overall Awards are scheduled throughout the entire competition and listed on your schedules.  

GRAND AWARDS

GRAND AWARDS will take place at the conclusion of the Senior Encore Challenge at the end of the competition.  We have so many prestigious awards to give away!!!  Please ensure at least one studio representative is present as awards will not be shipped.  For more information on our GRAND AWARDS, please visit our website.

SPORTSMANSHIP

SDC encourages a fun and uplifting atmosphere for all!  Awards are great, but more important is how the dancers feel about their performances and their overall experiences at the competition.  Our SDC team will be watching dancers, teachers, studio owners and parents alike throughout the entire event and present a special award at the end of the competition to the studio that demonstrates good sportsmanship towards others.  We encourage dancers to wish other studios good luck or offer congratulations.  We also welcome dancers, teachers, and parents to nominate another studio for their positive acts of good sportsmanship by notifying any of our staff.  Poor or unsportsmanlike behaviour by any teacher, parent, or dancer will make the affiliated studio ineligible as a Studio Spirit contender.  

SDC does not discriminate; however, we reserve the right to refuse entry into the competition as a competitor, spectator, or educator, to any group or individual who has been deemed unsportsmanlike by the host venue or our crew. Anyone displaying unsportsmanlike or harassing behaviour during the event may be asked to rectify the situation or immediately leave the facility.  No refunds will be issued. 

CRITIQUES 

All entries will receive a state-of-the-art video with audio recordings, available one day after the conclusion of the competition.  Critiques will be available in your SDC studio account.  We pre-screen our judges for the quality of their critiques before selecting our panels.  Our judges have the knowledge and expertise to deliver informative, constructive, and elaborate critiques in a motivational way and with an understanding of all ability levels.  

STUDIO SPIRIT AWARD

Sportsmanship, professionalism, ethics, and kindness are at the heart of our competition! We are watching to see how each teacher, dancer, and parent interact with each other, other studios, and our staff. Each individual can earn points for their studio by showing little acts of kindness and showing studio spirit. Individuals can lose points for their studio too. To increase your studio's chance of winning... We encourage dancers to show their studio pride by displaying posters in the audience or on stage during awards. Studios will be judged on their overall spirit and sportsmanship to others throughout the competition. Studios are encouraged to bring posters, decorations and anything else that will make your studio stand out as having the most spirit!  The winning studio will receive an AWARD BANNER to display with pride at their studio, a CASH AWARD to be used for a PIZZA PARTY for the dancers at their studio, plus a $300 CASH SCHOLARSHIP award to the studio owner!

Printed Programs: Parents may purchase printed programs onsite.

MEDIA PACKAGES
